Fostering Domestic Capacity for Economic Growth

Malaysia is the 3rd largest economy in Southeast Asia and the 29th largest economy in the world. The country aims to reach high income status by 2020 while ensuring that growth is also sustainable and inclusive. To achieve this goal, Malaysia is working towards fostering its domestic capacity, in terms of better resources management and more organised infrastructure development. The country currently promotes smart cities concept, and is putting a lot of efforts in environmental sustainability. Malaysia Geospatial Forum and Sabah International Surveyors’ Congress shall highlight the potential of geospatial technology in managing the country’s wealth and ensuring sustainable development for optimal economic growth. Role of surveyors in their respective domains will also be discussed.
