An Analysis of Residential Property Market Performance in Malaysia: 2007-2013
The main objective of this presentation is to provide an overview of residential property market in Malaysia pre and post Global Financial Crisis (2007-2013). Prices of houses escalated since 2010. Malaysian House Price Index reported 6.7%, 9.9% and 11.8% annual growth in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively. In an open trading economy, such as Malaysia, price is determined by demand and supply. Using transaction and housing inventory data collected by Valuation and Property Services Department (JPPH), the residential property market performance is analysed in relation to price, demand and supply of houses.
